Sting Operations (2018)

All of the items below are related to Child Sex Sting Operations. Sting means the FBI or local law enforcement are using websites, social media, or messenger programs to lure suspected child predators to a location for arrest.

This page will be updated as the year goes along. I typically will only include large scale media blast stings found by searching the internet. It should be noted that most captured in these Sting operations will walk away with a felony conviction, loss of $$, and sex offender registration. Thousands get caught in these stings per year even though this site only shows several hundred (outside the big stings).

2018 Jan: Police Chief Arrested – In Pennsylvania. Even police can get captured. This is a sad situation which had heavy news coverage. Captured one individual age 40. There was no details on anyone else captured.
2018 Jan: Operation Not in My Town – GUILFORD, Conn., 5 men were arrested. Ages 24-44. All are facing charges of Criminal Attempt to Commit Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Attempt to Commit Risk of Injury.
2018 Jan: Florida Operation – Winter Sprints, FL. A single individual (33 years old) was arrested.
2018 Jan: Beaverton Operation – Beaverton, OR. Four men were arrested (26-Jan) in a predator sex sting operation. Ages 19-45. Booked on charges on charges of online sexual corruption of a child and luring a minor.
2018 Jan: Operation Child’s Play – MUNCIE, Ind. On 31-Jan another four men, ages 24-38 were arrested after seeking sex with two girls, one 18 and the other almost 16. Ads were placed on numerous escort websites and drew over 400 text messages (inquires). Preliminary charges of child solicitation and attempted sexual misconduct with a minor.
2018 Jan: Child Sex Sting – BRISTOL, Va. Nine more individuals arrested over five month investigation. Ages range from 23-48. None arrested had prior charges. At least one plead guilty and is serving a 4 year prison sentence.
2018 Feb: Richland, WA – A Mead, WA man, age 43, was captured during sting operation.
2018 Feb: Pre Super Bowl Sting – In St. Croix County five were arrested over a two day operation. Ages range from 22-60.
2018 Feb: Super Bowl Sting – A Minnesota operation captured 18 men ages 20-53 planning to meet up with a 15 year old boy.
2018 Feb: NYC Bust – Single bust of 59 year old planning to meet up with 13 year old.
2018 Feb: Utah Sting – Parowan, UT. Seven men ranging from 30-71 were captured including army recruiter. Appears to be a mother and a couple children sting operation.
2018 Feb: Operation Be Mine – Putnam County, FL. Arrest of 14. Ages 18-63.
2018 Mar: Three Phase Operation – Midland, TX. Netted 62 in a three phase 15 day operation that involved multi-agencies doing prostitution, trafficking and child sting operations. Roughly 7 were arrested in the child predator sting operation. Also called Operation Gauntlet.
2018 Mar: NW Florida Sting – Walton County, FL. There seems to be no end to these stings in Florida. This time 8 men arrested ages 18-67. They used Craigslist, Whisper and Grindr to nab these individuals.
2018 Mar: Operation Southern Impact II – Atlanta, GA. Operation captured 34 men. Ages ranged from 17 to 63. This was a part of a larger multi-state operation that ended up arresting 76 people.
2018 Mar: Boise Sting – Ada County, ID (Bosie). Ten men arrested via Craigslist sting operation. Ages 24-49. Most have minimal to no criminal history with one person being a person of interest previously. Caught just prior to Carigslist ads being shut down.
2018 Mar: Net Nanny Operation – Jefferson County, WA (Port Townsend). A four day operation netted 10 people ages 20-77. With 7 children being potentially at risk of being abused. Net Nanny operation has netted over 170 people in 3 years of operation. One of the individuals later committed suicide.
2018 Apr: Operation Cyber Guardian – Polk County, FL. Go to Polk, go to the pokey. Another 18 men captured in a child sex sting operation by Sheriff Grady Judd and friends. This was a two week operation. Ages 20-53 provided via another website.
2018 May: Operation Picket Fences – Lee County, FL. Another 18 arrested in Florida. Ages 22-54. They used the internet and social media (remember no more Craigslist/Backpage). Most are charged with a second degree felony.
2018 May: Beaverton Sting – Beaverton, OR. Six arrested with ages ranging from 19 to 51. Social Media apps and chat forums were used to contact the men. All charged with Luring and or sexual corruption of a minor. Mugshots included.
2018 May: Operation Safe Summer – FBI National sting operation during the month of May. There was 158 Judicial actions (arrests/citations/indictments/sentencing). No details provided on ages, stings, etc.
2018 May: Operation Intercept V – Sarasota, FL. A six day operation with 21 men arrested ranging in age from 22-58. On the plus side there is a really good lawyer that works in that area. They used internet ads, online apps and social media.
2018 June: Net Nanny Operation 12 – Spokane, WA. Another Net Nanny sting, day long operation, netted 9, ages 30-49. They used social media and (somehow) Craigslist (online classifieds). Net Nanny is now up to 182 arrests.
2018 June: Operation Rip Current – St. Johns County, FL. Another 9 arrested in Florida (with mug shots). Ages 22-73. Most are charged with multiple counts: using internet to solicit a minor and traveling to meet a minor, etc.
2018 June: Operation Memorial Dazed – Cleveland, OH. This sting took place over four day period (apparently 8-10 month investigation before). There were 22 arrested ages ranging from 19-25. Quite a media blitz on this one; here is another news article with names, charges, and ages.
2018 June: Operation Broken Heart 5 – This is the BIG ONE mention below it is an ongoing investigation that occurred in Mar-Apr-May of this year. They are claiming 2,300 alleged child predators arrested! Here is the DOJ Press Release. And 47 of those arrested came from Washington State.
2018 July: Washington County, OR – Captured one person in sting operation where they posed as 15 year old. Charge is “luring a minor” which is a class C felony (not too bad).
2018 July: Denton County, TX – Media mentioned drug laced gummy bears in the 10 arrested for this sting near Dallas, Texas. Link shows mug shots but no ages.
2018 July: Operation Full Armor – Columbia, SC got into the mix with a 38 person, four day bust mid July. This appears to also include prostitution. This is one of the biggest local busts I’ve seen. County prosecutors will be swamped for awhile on this. Media (or Police leak) resulted in them discovering one persons was a Boy Scout Leader and further amped up the publicity on the story. Oh and least we not forget the Colonel from Ft. Jackson; all of which makes great publicity.
2018 July: Hood River, OR – Oregon appears to be ramping it up with the capture of 5 individuals ranging from age 16 – 44. Really, a 16 year old! Please don’t mind me if I’m a little suspicious of these stings!
2018 July: North St. Paul Sting – Somehow they had a sting in January and arrested 9 people in July (ages 23-60). This was a bait and switch sting on Craigslist.
2018 Aug: Net Nanny 13 – Another sting in Pierce County, WA nabs 21. Ages range from 19 to 70. I’m surprised they kept the 19 year olds. Pierce County tends to be one of the strictest in this area with 250-500k bails but they often drop charges from Class A to Class B felony.
2018 Aug: Ohio Arrests – CANFIELD, OH is getting into the act. They arrested 12 men ranging in age from 21 – 50 including a teacher. At least I’m seeing a little sympathy in the comments. Need to realize these are STING operations and prey on men’s weakness. Be wary of anyone captured in a Sting a lot of people get duped in our society. Update article on arrests.
2018 Aug: Operation Can’t Touch This – Ocala, FL. Love the name of the operation. Seven arrested in Florida–endless operations in that state. Large mugshots and a lot of hoopla…wow.
2018 Aug: Operation Child Safe – Banning, CA. Nine men arrested including a school dean. Age 25-55. This 9-day operation lured these men with a 14 year old boy. Includes mugshots.
2018 Aug-Sept: Operation DUVAL – Jacksonville, Florida Sting which arrested 17 people including one person from Fort Bragg. This one captured 17 men (is there no end to these large stings)! Ages ranged from 19-67.
2018 Aug-Sept: Operation Catfish – Lake County, FL. This was a large combined operation that netted 40 people–most for general prostitution. There were 6 men, in phase one, as a result of soliciting a minor.
2018 Sept: Kingston New York – Ulster County, NY. Eight men, ages 19 – 59 charged in operation. All felony charges.
2018 Sept: ADP Arrests – California jumps into the act again with small 5 person arrest ranging in age from 23-48. Officers posed as young female prostitutes (15-16 years old). BTW, some states 16 is the legal age of consent.
2018 Sept: Arizona / Operation Degrossting – Mesa, Arizona. Least we not forget Arizona they captured 24 ranging in age from 21 to 80–really, 80 year old man? Names, ages and mug shots along with charges included. The two dozen number seems to be the new target for these big stings.
2018 Sept: Operation Open House – Toms River, New Jersey. There were 24 arrested in this sting including a Nurse, Police Officer and Firefighter (lots of publicity for this one). Ages 23-54. A lot of second and third degree felony charges. This sting pushes us over 400 for the year!
2018 Sept:Texas Sting – Near Fort Worth Texas. Twenty people charged, 14 arrested in Sting operation. Interesting how they arrested 14 and have warrants out for remaining 6. I’m wondering if those other six didn’t travel? Perhaps these stings are getting more aggressive and chasing chatters as opposed to just those who show up.
2018 Oct: Orlando Florida undercover – Thirteen arrested near Disney in a six day operation. Ages range from 22-54. They nailed 58 charges on these 13 individuals (like 4 charges each). I suppose the extra charges help with the plea versus trial option for the prosecutors. Here is another/better link to the Operation Cyber Guardian Fall Haul.
2018 Oct: Marathon County – A 40 year old man captured in a sting operation and even asked if it were a sting operation to which the detective said NO. Bottom line is the detectives can lie in these operations to get you to show up. If someone is underage stop the conversation. Don’t get lured in. A lot of future pain fighting this stuff lies ahead for him and others.
2018 Oct: Daytona Beach (Volusia County) – Another sting in Florida. This time 7 men arrested ranging in ages from 22 – 49. Indeed the internet is a dangerous place. And Florida is a dangerous place to be on the internet seeking sex. One guy thought it would be cool to see one of these operations go down–he was arrested!
2018 Oct: Wisconsin Sting – A 59 year old St. Paul man arrested in an online Western Wisconsin sting. Tip – don’t send images of your privates, that just further incriminates you.
2018 Oct: Arkansas Sting – Two men ages 34 and 44 were captured in sting operation and charged with felony Internet stalking of a child.
2018 Oct: Operation Intercept – Out of Greenville, SC a group of 21 men were arrested in a combined prostitution and child sex sting operation. Ten of the 21 were the child sex predators. As soon as they put themselves out there responses were immediate! Here are the mugshots and another article.
2018 Oct: Operation Trick or Treat – Mississippi gets in the act and captured 8 men ranging in age from 22-67.
2018 Nov: Oh No Canada – Alberta, Canada got into the act and 13 men were arrested with arrest taking place from Feb – Oct (long term investigation). Ages 24 – 51.
2018 Nov: Operation Paladin – I think Florida and Georgia are competing against one another in the race to the bottom. This operation captured 20 men ranging in age from 20 to 59. Last year, the Georgia ICAC Task Force made 350 arrests connected to cyber enticement and child pornography cases. Wow! Wonder how many Florida captured?
2018 Nov: Operation Grand Canyon – Boise, ID gets in the act; not to be outdone by Washington and Oregon. They captured 11 men ranging in age from 18-59. Many of the guys look like the shy introverted type. Yeah, I really wonder about these operations. Let’s catch some more viable taxpayers and throw a speed bump into their lives.
2018 Dec: Net Nanny 14 – KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. Another 13 arrested in a new county in WA state. They are now up to 221 arrests over 3 years of doing Net Nanny stings! Ages range from 22 to 65. A lot of charges in order to better obtaining a plea versus going to trial. This came later than I expected and in a different county.
2018 Dec: Targeting – AUGUSTA, Ark. Two men, 51 and 31 were captured in a sting operation. One of these was a three month investigation. Perhaps these are more legit than those 1-5 day operations randomly targeting people.
2018 Dec: Snared – A Texas man, 29, from Waco was caught up in an online child sex sting. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years surprise.

2018 Oct: (N/A) Operation Cross Country XII – This operation typically occurs yearly in October but did not occur in 2018 (perhaps FBI is dealing with too much in our current administration). This is a multi-agency operation that targets traffickers and is less likely to be a child sex sting like most of the other operations. This and Operation Broken Heart are the two larger operations of the year that occur bi-annually.
